Vietnam. A country of no strategic importance or valuable goods. From a historical point of view, there was no need or gains that would come from the US invading this indigent region. History, however, was at a point that deemed control of this country of extremity importance in world politics. With no separate threats to American society, Truman felt Communism was the next impediment against democracy, of which the US felt was the greatest attribute to its success. After France, whom the US had already been assisting in aid, withdrew its forces in 1956, American advisors were sent to train atomic number 16 Vietnamese on how to control and combat the Soviet-funded militia of pairing Vietnam. After many years of unsuccessful warfare, the United States cut no choice other than sending military legions to the region in hopes of pushing back the rebels from the North and thus ensuring that South Vietnam would be a democratic state alleviate from Communist influences. More than anything, the Vietnam War was a message to the residue of the world that the US could, and more importantly would, engage in conflict in attempt to ensure that democracy remain the prevalent political and economical ideology existent across the world.
