To the Editor: Recently I was reminded of the pressing debate on enkindle in schools. Education, that is. High school students, such as myself, are confronted with the topic of sexual activity everyday. Usually it consists of what happened last friday nighttime or Whos feelting with whom? Not often is the yack about sex education. However, it is very intertwined. Sex education sets the ass for our extracurricular activities. Teens need the facts in order to make authored choices in their sexual endeavors. Therefore, citywide sex education is crucial to the educational system as a whole.

Comprehensive sex education allows adolescents to make a wise, personal choice establish on their beliefs, with resources that can provide a safe (not foolproof) experience. The hopes were that with this information, teenagers would be open to make responsible decisions concerning their sex lives. Americas prudish attitude toward sex education may be the reason why the United States has the highest teen maternalism rate among unquestionable countries.




The Netherlands, on the other hand, have the lowest teen pregnancy rate in Europe and one of the most comprehensive sex education programs worldwide. To the Dutch, sex is not something that is taught, but something to smatter about. Dutch students begin their sexual endeavours, of the educational quality, at age 6. Although young, these kids grow up with a strong understanding of sex and its outcomes. As Sue Lloyd-Roberts stated in an article from BBC, The English are prudish and cant talk about sex. We [the Dutch] find it lenient to talk about it. Were better educated and therefore, better advised about the consequences of what we are doing.
